Launch of therapy pilot with LGBTQ+ retirement community, Tonic Housing

Tim Spoor

We are excited to share that Queerwell has launched an in-house pilot therapy service for older LGBTQ+ people in partnership with Tonic Housing, the UK’s first LGBTQ+ retirement community.

The program has been shaped by the voices of residents and Queerwell's incredible team of associate therapists. This ensures compassionate on-site support, tailored to the unique experiences of older LGBTQ+ folks. Because everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated at every stage of life.

One of our therapists shared:

“Queerwell’s mission to provide free or low-cost therapy is vitally important. I hope its work enables LGBTQ+ people across the country to connect with the joy, resilience, and sense of community that comes with living an authentic, queer life.”

Bob Green OBE, Head of Operations, Tonic Housing said:

“Tonic is the UK's only community-led LGBT+ Retirement Community and our residents have struggled to find accessible, affordable mental health support. The recent introduction of Queerwell, a new LGBTQ+ specific charity, has been enthusiastically welcomed. Many older LGBTQ+ people have experienced isolation and trauma from previous experiences of harassment, making Queerwell's individual counselling and innovative group activities, such as puppy therapy, invaluable."

We aim to launch our full therapy service in Spring 25. But we need your support to make it happen. Please donate today.
