We are the national community led mental health charity for people aged 18 and over who identify as LGBTQ+.
We offer innovative, prevention-focused mental health and wellbeing support.
From therapy to coaching and workshops – free or low cost.
Our primary focus is on those in greatest need and with the least resources.
We champion positive mental health within LGBTQ+ communities by delivering innovative prevention-focussed mental health and wellbeing support - free or at low-cost.
We are committed to prioritising those most in need, with the fewest resources, and those who face discrimination on many levels.
Together, we strive to create a world where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.
Queerwell was founded in 2024 by a group of passionate people with lived experiences of poor mental health. People that had experienced professionally and personally the limitations and issues with current mental health support for LGBTQ+ people.
In December 2024 we lost our co-founder and Trustee Maari.
Maari Nastari, a trans woman of colour, activist, charity leader and friend was a driving force from day one of Queerwell, and we would never have launched our charity without her strong support and insistence that we did so.
Maari’s legacy is something we will always be proud of and will celebrate.
In her lifetime she helped thousands of lgbtq+ people facing homelessness, abuse and mental health challenges; she worked hard for four LGBTQ+ charities and founded two more through her passion, skills and creativity.
Queerwell will move forward with our work in 2025 in memory of and driven by Maari’s passion to support LGBTQ+ people to overcome the challenges they face.
There are lots of ways to support us.
We respond to a critical gap in mental health services, particularly for LGBTQ+ individuals. With public and LGBTQ+ sector resources overstretched, we offer timely and specialised support to meet the growing demand.
We provide a unique range of services that recognise the diverse needs of our community. Whether someone is seeking their first step into mental health support or looking for tailored resources, our innovative approach ensures a welcoming experience.
Our services are delivered by fully qualified, accredited, and experienced mental health professionals.
Queerwell is rooted in the LGBTQ+ community. Our work is delivered in queer-affirmative spaces by LGBTQ+ professionals, in partnership with charities, workplaces, and community organisations.
We are committed to reaching LGBTQ+ individuals wherever they are. With both online and offline services, we operate across the UK, delivering support in charities, community hubs, and workplaces.
We prioritise accessibility for those who need it most. Recognising that the best mental health support is often unaffordable or unavailable, we focus on reaching marginalised LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those facing intersecting forms of discrimination.
Our model emphasises sustainability and financial prudence:• A small core team collaborates with specialised providers to deliver key programs.
• Services are hosted within established community settings to reduce costs.
• Our “access and donate” model enables those who can afford to contribute to support free or low-cost services for others.
